Hi, I’m Whitney Potts

I'm a learning experience designer with a background in graphic design and animation. I specialize in turning complex ideas into engaging, visually-driven learning experiences that make people say, "Ohhh, got it!" instead of, "Huh?" Whether it’s crafting eye-catching visuals, animating concepts to life, or designing learning that actually sticks, I bring creativity and strategy together to make education not just effective, but enjoyable. Take a look at my work and see how I make learning look good—one design, animation, and strategy at a time!

My work in graphic design and animation has allowed me to specialize in creating explainer videos that distill intricate concepts into clear, compelling narratives. Now, as I transition into the field of learning experience design, I am driven by a desire to merge my expertise in visual storytelling with research-based learning strategies to create impactful educational experiences.

Learning experience design is more than just structuring content; it is about designing experiences that optimize engagement, support intrinsic motivation, and encourage deep learning. I understand that effective learning is not merely about information delivery but about fostering comprehension, critical thinking, and personal transformation. Drawing from Self-Determination Theory (Deci & Ryan), I strive to create learning experiences that promote autonomy, competence, and relatedness—key drivers of motivation and sustained engagement. Additionally, I incorporate the ARCS Model (Keller) to ensure that my designs capture attention, establish relevance, build confidence, and inspire learner satisfaction.

Beyond engagement, I prioritize active learning and constructivist principles (Vygotsky, Bruner, Brown, Collins, & Duguid) to move learners from passive consumption to deep participation. By integrating storytelling, problem-based learning, and interactive elements, I create environments where learners actively construct knowledge rather than merely absorb information. My work also aligns with Universal Design for Learning (UDL), ensuring that content is accessible, flexible, and responsive to diverse learning needs.

Looking ahead, I seek to position myself at the forefront of learning design, where I can integrate multimedia production, storytelling, and pedagogical best practices to create transformative learning experiences. My goal is not only to design courses but to innovate within the field—developing methodologies that bridge the gap between content expertise and engaging instructional delivery. By continually refining my skills in the learning sciences, instructional technology, and user experience design, I aspire to make learning more intuitive, inclusive, and impactful for diverse audiences.
